BF question...need help..

I have been pumping about 8-10 ozs a day and supplementing with formula. But yesterday a mere ounce was all I got.

Is there still milk there? or am I one of those women who just doesn't make much? TIA

Are you drinking lots of water? You can "massage" your bbs in the shower and it helps, also drink a beer. Not sure why, but a friend told me to do this, I think it worked a bit.

There was also a recent post that you're not supposed to pump the first week or two - I can't remember why. Does anyone remember this or know why? N/M: I found the POST.

Good luck! Chat Icon

The first few weeks I didn't get much at all; I kept pumping though & drinking fluids & oatmeal & now, 3 months later, I pump 8-12 oz. per 20 min. Keep it up...

When I was BFing and scaled back to 10 ounces a day, my body pretty much stopped making milk. That may not be enough production for your body to feel it's needed. If you want to keep lactating, you can try taking fenugreek to boost your supply back up

My peditrican told me it was okay to pump.. my DD is 2 weeks today.. My DD falls asleep five mins into breastfeeding, so to help with my milk production i started pumping.

How many days pp are you? I had this problem after being able to pump a ton when my milk came in, then at like 10 days pp I wasn't able to pump hardly anything. I kept BFing DS, he seemed to be getting enough, and I am fine now...it may just be your body adjusting.

Are you also breastfeeding or exclusively pumping? If you're not breastfeeding also, you may need a hospital grade pump in order to maintain your supply.

I am just going thru the same thing I was pumping 8-10oz in 10-15min now I have slowed down- you need to have the baby latch on a few times during the day and I am also taking fenugreek
