BFing moms - HELP - DS refusing to nurse
so... yesterday, all of a sudden, DS decided he didn't want to nurse anymore.
i'd been sick with a GI virus, but supply wasn't an issue - i actually had plenty of milk when he first refused.
on one hand, i am SO upset and worried because i want to continue at all costs. i don't respond very well to the pump, so long-term pumping isn't an option for me. without ds as a "pump", my supply will plummet pretty quickly.
on the other hand, i am really, really tired. literally. part of me just wants to throw in the towel and, for the first time since 25 weeks pregnant, get a good night's sleep. and not worry about his next meal... or my supply... or herbal teas... etc, etc.
SO ambivalent... i guess i need some advice... and some hugs...

DS hasn 't been too happy with the boob lately, unless its a chew toy. First, he got sick, then his teeth are coming in. He's barely gaining weight. The pediatrician said it's normal at this age. I'd talk with your doctor.

Re: BFing moms - HELP - DS refusing to nurse
Here is info I found about nursing strikes.
Nursing Strikes
When I pump I close my eyes and imagine DD nursing. I even smell one of her blankets, imagine the way she feels all snuggled in to nurse, picture her little face looking up at me her eyes locked with mine. This usually gets my let down going on both sides, not just the one I'm pumping. I also lean forward a bit instead of sitting back to let gravity do it's part.
Good luck and hang in there!!!!

Re: BFing moms - HELP - DS refusing to nurse
Try to nurse several times, then pump.
It happens, especially when teething kicks in. I thought he was weaning at 11 months but with that strategy, he didn't. Although now he's too big a boy to nurse during the day...
