BFing moms - what to do about chemicals in the workplace?
My job is infested with bedbugs. It has been for years now. When they exterminate, it is suggested that pregnant women work at a different location in the building.
I was there for months before my maternity leave. Would you do the same if you returned to work and you were still nursing?

If it was an option I would BF or not, just to avoid that crap. Plus you don't know it might transfer in your milk, better safe than sorry.

I routinely work with hazardous chemicals. I am going to stop BF when I go back. Took enough of a chance when I was preggo.

So, all the mail that you send out potentially carries bed bugs? I get so much mail from your building. Oh, wait, this isn't about me. Hmmmm, as long as you do not mind whoever you will be working near at the other part of the building, I would say to go there.

Re: BFing moms - what to do about chemicals in the workplace?
will they let you go to the other building if you are breastfeeding? do you know the name of the chemical that they are using? by law, they should be supplying you a material safety data sheet on the chemical that you are being exposed to, and on that sheet should have info on pregnancy and breastfeeding. I would request to see that sheet, and then make a decision. some chemicals are unsafe for pregnancy, but don't pass through into the breastmilk, but you wouldn't know that unless you saw the sheet. it's always good to take the precaution if you can, but if you can't, then there's the other option

I asked for specific information when I was pregnant and it was never provided. I was told that it was 100% safe. I still insisted on moving to another part of the building.
I will try again, but will probably get the same results

they have no choice but provide it to you, it's part of the occupational safety and health act (OSHA). i would make a fuss and request it if you need to. check out this link about OSHA.

Does this mean that you are electronically sending out PC notices because yes my software can fight them better than my desk can!?!!! Is this someone who wants to only work on comp. cases? Because I would consider that to be very wacky.
