BFing moms...when did you start solids?
At my DD's 3 month appointment the Dr. said we would start solids next month. I thought BF babies started later. What is the norm? When did you start? What did your Dr. recommend?

they now recommend bf babies actually wait until 6 months... for us, ds #1 started at 5 weeks... ds #2 started at 8 weeks.... BUT they were both eating non-stop and are huge... ds #1 at 18 months old wears 4T's and ds #2 at 10 weeks is in 9 months clothes

Our ped said we could start at 4 months, but I held off until his 6m b-day. When I told the doc that I wanted to wait he was fine with it since that's what the AAP recommends anyway...

I just went to the Dr Yesterday and my Ped said anywhere between 4-6 months to start...
My lil one is 4months and 3 weeks, and I mashed up a little pc of my banana yesterday and she went WILD... So... I am not sure yet when we are going to start... I guess we "officially" started yesterday, but I Plan on EBF still, but maybe I will add just a lil smashed up fruit here and there like every few days etc... Then I will start the cereal and other stuff maybe in another month...

Thanks ladies! I am probably going to start at five months...since i'll be back to work at 6 months just to get her used to the food before my mom starts taking care of her.

My ped says BF babies are often deficient in iron and other nutrients after 4th month and he recommends solids early for BF only babies. DS is only a few weeks old, ped says lets see and wait how he progresses to decide.

I did 3 months. Only because Liam was so hungry. I would have been fine with holding off but, I was going back to work and I don't pump well.. So It was solids or formula supplementing. I did solids.. at 8 months I had to supplement with formula anyway.

Just an FYI. Your ped is not correct in this. I can't believe he would say it. It goes against the WHO and AAP rec's.

We started cereal at around 5 months (or a few days later) and solids at 6 months. She was a HORRIBLE eater from day one  Not sure if it has anything to do with when we started it, but I will probably go a bit earlier with #2 to hope for the best
