BFP and IBS? (sorry TMI)
Hey ladies, I just tested this morning and got a BFP!!! I can't believe it.
I kinda had a feeling it might be positive, cause my stomach has been acting up sooo much this past week or so. Did this happen to anyone who has or had IBS in the past? Does pregnancy bring out symptoms, even if you've been doing well? Is it possible that I could be feeling these symptoms because I'm pregnant, or is it too early for that, and I'm just having some issues (which wouldn't be a surprise)? Sorry for so many questions!
SOOO excited ....but hoping to feel better soon

Re: BFP and IBS? (sorry TMI)
Thats awesome, CONGRATS!!!
I have IBS also, but mine was predominantly IBS-C (constipation). I found that w/pregnancy the constipation got worse but it was still bearable (not severe enough to seek medical attention or anything...so if your IBS-D it may actually improve).
I have had no more cramping/bloating being pregnant than before. Actually I'd say my symptoms have improved...TMI, but I used to have problems going regularly but then out of no where I'd get severe cramps and have to go immediately...not fun. That "emergency" and cramping feeling hasn't happened except for once while I've been preggo and I think that was only b/c I took too many colace
Also, I've had to cut back on things that would aggrivate the IBS such as caffeine and alchohol w/being preggo so I'm sure that has helped a lot. I think you'll be OK. FM me if you have any more questions!

Re: BFP and IBS? (sorry TMI)
Congratulations!!!!
I have IBS, mostly diarrhea-prominent but it would flip every six months or so to constipation. I have found that it has made my diarrhea a little better and the constipation not that bad, at least on a regular basis. However, if I do have a bout of it, it takes a little while for it to calm down. Stay away from your regular food aggravators for sure! Good luck!

I have IBS, and I know it's early, but so far I am doing great. I learned to control it through diet and exercise prior to BFP, I am hoping to keep throughout!

Re: BFP and IBS? (sorry TMI)
First, Congratulations!!!!!!!
I have very severe IBS, though I've had it under control for some time. I knew more than a week before my BFP that I was pregnant b/c I was having a major flare up that I couldn't attribute to anything else (no stress, bad eating, etc). I am now almost 10w and while I certainly do not have the standard pregnancy issue of constipation as well as the ill-timed stomach ache that radiates through to your back , it has gotten better and less frequent. I lost a few pounds in the beginning, putting me underweight and stressing me even more but I've gained that back to basically be at my normal weight.
Unfortunately most GI's won't touch a pregnant woman with a 10 foot pole. If it's bad or you're concerned, you may want to get a rec from your doctor even before your first OB appt.
Good luck and congrats again!
