Big potty training problem with my DS - won't go #2 STILL.
DS (2.5 will be 3 in 2 mos) has been in underwear for months. He virtually potty trained himself when it came to #1 - just one day started going in the potty and that was it. He wears a pull up at night but always wakes up dry (i think in the past two months he has been wet once) and is fine to wear underwear when we go out as well.
The big problem - he will NOT EVER go # 2 in the potty - he is flat out afraid for some reason and repeatedly tells me it will hurt. At first he would hold it in so we would still keep him in pullups but, now, the way it works is he actually asks for a pull up when he has to go #2. I figured at least this way he was in underwear and had to make a conscious distinction.
It's so bad that he won't even stand in the bathroom or sit on the potty with the pull up on when he is going #2. NOTHING works.
Did anyone have this problem? At first I just thought it would take time but, now, ALOT of time has passed!

Re: Big potty training problem with my DS - won't go #2 STILL.
wish i could help-dealing with this also with my just turned 3 yr old DD. she also basically trained herself overnight to make peepee on the potty. i was so excited and thought it was all done. nope. she has still yet to go #2 on the potty and flat out refuses. i really don't think it will ever happen i have no idea why either. she doesn't say why she won't do it. she will go in a pullup or even in her underwear. it totally s*cks. hoping that someone on here can share advice and/or an encouraging story!

Re: Big potty training problem with my DS - won't go #2 STILL.
I just recently posted this complaint myself DD was definitely a difficult child to potty train period. I trained her just a few weeks shy of her 3rd birthday to pee in the potty so that she could attend nursery school (wouldn't change diapers at 3). I left pooping for later figuring she would come around. Well NOTHING worked not encouragment, bribery, punishment, promises of ANYTHING she wanted. Finally I was convinced I'd be sending her to college with a package of pull ups. Well a mere 9mths later out of the blue she decided she would poop in the potty. Yes it took forever but I can honestly say that nothing I did helped her she finally decided on her own to go. She still struggles here and there with it because it is not her favorite activity but we're headed in the right direction. Now she's about to turn 4 and we're still trying to conquer getting rid of the overnight diaper

Re: Big potty training problem with my DS - won't go #2 STILL.
We potty trained DS on his 3rd b-day. I took to it very quickly except for pooping. He'd wait til we put on the pull-up and then go. After a while I was firm, but not angry about telling him he was not allowed to go in the pull-up. It took time and patience, but after about 5 mos he started going #2 on the potty regularly. And when he did finally start doing it he'd only go maybe once every 3 days. But its par for the course. Hang in there, it'll happen!
