I just bought a big brother gift and didnt go sentimental. I just bought a toy I know he really wants (Diego Rescue Pack).
ETA: I'd just go with whatever she's into at the moment!

I have been thinking of this lately too...I don't have any ideas. I kind of want something sentimental....and maybe the same thing (or of a similar train of thought) for DD to give to the baby (in addition to a little rattle/etc).

DD got the game Pretty Pretty Princess from her brother. It gave her something to play with that day while she was visiting in the hospital.

We got Kaydyn coloring books, crayons, 2 DVDs, and a little stuffed animal. I packed the presents in my suitcase so when she came to visit me for the first time at the hospital we gave them to her.

Im going with the toy route as well.
This is what we did-we got her an aqua doodle, she loves it (and I love it, no mess).

My DD was 27 months when her sister was born (so not too far off from you) and we got her the fisherprice dollhouse that came with the furniture and dolls.
What I liked about giving this for her present from her sister is that it came with a mom, dad, big sister and twin babies. It allowed DD to play-act the new rolls in the family, which I believe helped her with the transition. It gave her an idea of where she fit in. I don't see the big set on the TRU website anymore. It was called the Fisher Price Grand Mega Dollhouse.
The toy itself I love because it came with everything you need and it all stores inside the house and folds up.
Now that DD's are 3 1/2 and 15 months, they play with it together
