biographies
I wanted to read more biographies this year. Any recommendations? Nothing too graphic or painful please!
so far i read: chelsea handler's first book (hated it), betty white's book (enjoyed it), walter reuther's bio (very interesting), bio of catherine the great (enjoyed it), jen kirkman's book (i can barely take care of myself) (it was ok) jenny lawson's book(let's pretend this never happened) (it was ok)
want to read a bio of mary queen of scots (any recs would be great)
i like historical figures but also contemporary people. i know lif readers can help me out with this!

Re: biographies
I read The Wives of Henry VIII by Allison Weir and it was wonderful!
That author has written a number of other Tudor era bios that are supposed to be good, too.
It was a fun, quick read, but I also liked Nora Ephron's I Feel Bad About my Neck.

Re: biographies
I'm not too big on biographies. I've read a few funny memoirs like Mindy Kaling's "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" and Tina Fey's "Bossypants". I really want to read "No One Gets Out of Here Alive" which is Jim Morrison's biogrpahy but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Re: biographies
Here's a few biographies/memoirs I have read and enjoyed recently:
The Princes in the Tower by Allison Weir The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry: Love, Laughter, and Tears at the World's Most Famous Cooking School by Kathleen Flinn
Service Included: Four-Star Secrets of an Eavesdropping Waiter by Phoebe Damrosch
Stones Into Schools: Promoting Peace With Books, Not Bombs, in Afghanistan and Pakistan by Greg Mortenson
The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary by Simon Winchester
Grace and Power: The Private World of the Kennedy White House by Sally Smith Bedell
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
I am currently reading Appetite for Life, a biography about Juila Child.
