Birth Announcements

We need to get moving on our birth announcements. Although I really want to splurge on this item, I know we shouldn't go too crazy because we need the money for diapers and all that important stuff.

I'm wondering where everyone got thier announcements from and about how much they spent. If anyone would like to share samples that would be great too. Right now I'm debating doing something like ofoto, target, or something a little fancier.

TIA!
Melissa

Re: Birth Announcements

We got ours at Proper Papers in Plainview. We used Sweet Pea designs for our announcements... I t cost us about $450 for 150 announcements with our return address on envelopes, 200 matching thank yous..

This is on the high side but worth every penny for our little munchkin...

I have always been very picky about invitation stuff. This is just my preference....

Re: Birth Announcements

Melissa....I was just looking at Walmart and Shutterflys' photo card (the long one) and they are so reasonable!

My best friend did hers at Walgreens and had them in an hour I think!

Also, check out Costco or BJ's

Re: Birth Announcements

we ordered ours from Ofoto - they were about $1 each - they came out so cute and with a picture of our little one on them.

Re: Birth Announcements

Yea, Walmart and Shutterfly were very reasonable. Target was a little bit more money but I think I liked the photocard that they had there better. I don't like pink -- that's the problem. So I'm looking for some sort of alternative and Targets was nice so far. Ofoto.com has a REALLY nice one but it would run us around $75 as opposed to $50 at target for the same amount, but at least it isn't hundreds of dollars.

The first card is the one from ofoto that we like. we dont' know if we're going ot use this pic though, i am going to dress her up today and try to get a good one with her eyes open. the 2nd one is the one we like at target. the ofoto one is just a little bit nicer.

ETS: Target photo to come later, Emily needs to be fed!

That would actually be my FIRST choice. We really wanted to do them with Beena, she does such a great job and I know she'd make it EXACTLY how we want it. We just don't know if we have enough money. I want to make sure we have enough for diapers and that kind of stuff. It's a little hard right now financially, especially since I'm out of work and my job's maternity leave situation stinks.

You can do your own announcements if you want, depending on how crafty you are. You could do print out on photo paper and do your own vellum overlay.

My mom has become obsessed with this stamping thing and makes cards with cutouts, etc. So I know homemade comes out pretty good. Ofoto just seems to be the easiest way with a newborn.

I did ours at Costco - they were about $18 for 50 with envelopes. Very reasonable and they came out cute. Not as many options as ofoto or shutterfly but you upload your picture online and pick them up at the store so you save on shipping too.

Re: Birth Announcements

i LOVE the one you posted! that is gorgeous! They look more expensive than $75. Keep in mind, unfortunately for half the people that you send it to it will eventually end up in the garbage, only close familt and friends will actually keep it, that is why I could never reason spending lots of $ on invitational items!!

Re: Birth Announcements

I just got mine from winkflash.com. They were the cheapest online. I think they were .29 each and shipping was only $2. I got 75 announcements with envelopes for $23. There is only 1 design to choose from (pink or blue). I ordered them on Oct 10 and got them on the 12. By looking at them, you would never know they were so cheap!
