Birth cert/SS card newborn
For those of you who delivered at Stony Brook (don't even know if the hospital matters), how long did it take to receive the birth cert and SS card? We are going on 33 days now and can't get my DS on the insurance without it.

I delivered at St. Charles but we received both within the first 2 weeks or so of our kids being born. They came really fast!!

I did not deliver at Stonybrook, but DDs birth certificate and SS card came within like 10 days of us being home. I'd definitely inquire as to where they are!

my dd's ss card was lost in the mail. i had go there and get it re-issued. this was 4 yrs ago, in Utah, so may work differently but i needed the birth certificate and a letter from the ped I believe. It was a pain to sit there with a new born but I had to. I got the BC within like 2 weeks. I would call the hospital and see how long they say.

I remember waiting about a month for all the paperwork to come in the mail. It was long enough that I called to check where everything was. Granted this was Manhasset and right after Sandy - so that may have played a roll in why mine came late b

I got the SS card first and the birth certificate a week or so later. all within 4-6 weeks. i'm pretty sure my doctor said the hopsital didn't file the paperwork right away either, which he was annoyed about, and that held everything up. I delivered at Manhasset though, not sure if that makes a difference.

Within a couple of week. For one of my ds the birth certificate didn't come - as they had the wrong address. I would call to look into at this point as you probably need ssn for insurance company

I did not deliver a at stony brook but ds was born 5/22 and his birth certificate arrived tuesday (so 19 days). SS card says can take 8 weeks

It has to do with how long it takes to process the papers, not the hospital. Assuming the hospital sent it all in, of course.

You can call L&D at SB to ensure they submitted the paperwork. If they have, you can follow up with the Town of Brookhaven about the birth certificate as they would process that.
I delivered 5/8 at St Charles and got the SS card in 10-days, but the birth certificate from the Village of PJ took almost 3-weeks to arrive.
