birth control if u have irregular cycles and are BF
i have PCOS and im nursing. i refuse to go on any hormonal BC (spent 12 years on BCP before TTC then spend 18 months on various hormones to conceive DD). i KNOW DH and I wont use condoms. if i was blessed enough to get pregnant naturally (we did IVF for DD) that would be nice, but I dont exactly want it to happen this year. i was hoping i could temp but everything i have read says its not reliable while nursing, and its hard enough for me since I have erratic cycles due to PCOS.
so i guess my question is, if you have a similar situation, what did you do? should we just do PNP? i have no idea what my fertility will be like now.
im 6 weeks post partum - how long did it take everyone to start ovulating again when nursing?

I also have PCOS and am nursing. After my twins were born, I had the paragard IUD put in. I HATED it. I had terrible, debilitating cramps, and very heavy, long periods. I took it out after 10 months (we wanted to start trying again anyway). This time I am nursing again and am going to get the Mirena IUD. This one does have hormones, but only progesterone, and they are only in the uterus - not like a BCP which goes through the entire bloodstream and also has estrogen.
If you don't want to get pregnant now, then I wouldn't suggest relying on pnp. If you don't want an IUD, then your DH needs to use condoms. After having my twins I started getting really regular periods. I would go months and months without them before I had conceived them. Not sure what is happening now, but I noticed EWCM a couple of weeks ago and then got AF today (3.5 months PP, I am not happy), so it looks like I did ovulate two weeks ago. Just saying, even though you needed IF treatments to get pregnant doesn't mean it can't happen on its own. (I had help for both pregnancies).

i know i was just talking to DH about this. its funny cause i dont know where to start since i was on BCP for so long and then when i went off to TTC i only got AF twice in 18 months unmedicated. i dont want to trust that my body still wont work enough to get pregnant, however i really dont want to keep pumping hormones into my body through any means. ive already done so much of that. i thought about mirena when i saw the commercial the other day but i had placenta accreta with this pregnancy and im sure there is scar tissue in my uterus now and i am worried an IUD would somehow attach to my uterus (the commercial said thats possible which is the only reason im fearful of that - obv id have to ask my dr. if thats a real risk).
anyway thanks for responding. i know realistically i shouldn't rely on PNP but i have trouble figuring out what else to do. i feel like when i am done nursing i can at least chart and rely on CM and other O indicators, but until then i feel lost!!
