Birthday Parties for Kids at School
Just curious how much you all spend on birthday party gifts for kids that you children go to school with. DS is in nursary school and is getting invited to a lot of parties. I've been spending about $25 on a gift...Is that too much, too cheap or about right?
I had a party for my DS last year and he got a few really cheap gifts....like $10 or less..personally, i would not be comfortable with that. And yes, i do realize that maybe some people can't afford it, but a few of the people who gave the $10 gifts never seemed like they were struggling in their designer clothings and high-end cars.

Re: Birthday Parties for Kids at School
This is a fairly popular topic on LIF, and most people seem to hover around $20, give or take.

Re: Birthday Parties for Kids at School
I usually gift $15-20 toys for kids we do not know well. We have 4 birthday parties in the next 2 weeks. I'm gifting disney princess, playdoh and melissa doug gifts. I stocked up during after xmas sales.
At the first party we went to down here in DC, I gave the birthday boy a remote control car that cost $30+. Most of the gifts seemed more like the $10-15 range.
When we lived in Manhattan, we spent much more on gifts as did everyone else.
I always try to do what everyone else does.

Re: Birthday Parties for Kids at School
I think $20-25 is a good price range. I wouldnt be able to give a gift for $10 or $15 without feeling super cheap & the people that do give cheap gifts & can afford to give more, we talk about how cheap they are so its actually something to laugh at!

Re: Birthday Parties for Kids at School
I think $20 -$25 is a safe number to work with - I posted about this last week and that was the general consensus.
