Birthday Party - Pinata Filler

I was given a pinata to use for Aidan's bday party, now I am trying to decide what to fill it with.

I've seen those premade bags of candy intended to Pinata's but after looking at it, there is alot of gum and other candies the younger kids at the party I know won't be allowed to have, including Aidan. The ages are (primarily) 2-11.

What else can I put in there? I guess I can make my own mix of Lollipops, etc. I already for stickers for goodie bags... I'm drawing a blank

what would you suggest? or am I thinking too much about this Chat Icon

I am having a pinata at Abby's party too. I think I am going to fill it with lollipops, whistles, miniture chocolate bars, little plastic sunglasses. You can get a ton of stuff online at oriental trading company.

I am putting stickers, fake tattoos, and bubbles in the goodie bags too.

I love kids parties, they are so much fun.

Re: Birthday Party - Pinata Filler

Its hard to decide with such a wide age group. Ive found that moms who Im so careful for with younger children, wind up giving us hard and chokey candy or even chokey toys in our goody bags at their own parties Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ive put in little pencil/erasers, little notepads, even the bags of mini-muffins, I try not tomake it so much junk... I usually tell the moms of little ones to keep an eye out. but I do try to avoid chokey things, Im paranoid with that as it is.

for the babys under 18m, I make their own goodie bags since they usually can have zero of whats in the pinyata (give them baby food jars, small toy, cookies, etc.)

As much fun as pinyatas are, there's always the problem of the outgoing kids getting it all and the quiet ones getting none

At one party I went to, the clowns "friend" (a teenager who accompanied the childrens entertainer) filled up her bag more than the kids! Can you imagine?? Lucky it wasnt my party, I would have smacked her Chat Icon

I've seen things like fake bugs & snakes, yo-yos, etc. As an alternative to Oriental Trading Company, Star Track in Farmingdale is a little less expensive. They're open during the week or you can just have it shipped. I'm buying bucket hats, pails & kites for Maddie's party.

Thanks for the info on Star Track. I work in Melville so I am going to head over there this afternoon.

It is sad how excited I get about these things.Chat Icon

Re: Birthday Party - Pinata Filler

Someone gave me a good suggestion..fill it with small goodie bags with names on them. Otherwise the big kids grab everything quickly and the little kids just end up with stuff they can't have or they are crying.

Star Track is an awsome place

I filled marissa's pinata with some cookies and lollipops and some toys as well as some candy for the older kids and it was a hit
