Birthday party advice...........

So I'm having a joint party for Jack and Ava because they are both November kiddies. I have everything pretty much set except for the invite list.

Last year for Ava's party we did family meaning my mom's sister and my dad's 2 brothers. However, in the past year A LOT of drama has gone on with my father's side of the family and I really don't want to deal. My aunt and uncle are in the middle of the worlds nastiest divorce and my grandfather well.....I just don't want him in my house after the way he's treated myself and my family....both long stories.

Its been a really hard 10 months for me with Jack and having 2 young kids and I'm honestly not up for having all these people in my house. I did a small thing for Jack's christening and honestly, it was soooooooooo stress free b/c it was the people DH and I both really wanted there.

My mom says I need to suck it up and just do it because I did it for Ava and everyone knows that the kid's birthdays are coming up so I can't get out it. I would rather do it my way and spend a few more bucks on my kids and get them a super special gift for when we redo the bottom of the house and make it into a kick azz play room.

If YOU were in my situation what would you do????????? I keep fighting with my mom over it and I need some ammo LOL.

I think Jack won't know the difference unless Grandma opens her mouth.

If it were me, I would do my own thing. I would tell my mom we've made a decision to keep it small. If she wants to throw a second party with whomever she wants, that you'll attend --- as a guest.

Thanks Barb.

After all that has happened this year I just can't do it. I'm really not up to it. I don't want to deal with the comments from anyone. I've pretty much had it.
