Birthday party for 5 year olds...do you

drop your kids off at the party and pick them back up or do you stay?

I am having a party for DD in a few weeks at a local kiddie place. There will be between 12 and 15 kids. DD only invited two of the kids from school as she is only friendly with two of them. She has never had a playdate with either one and I just know the moms to chat to for a few minutes before pick up. So the two moms said how the kids are excited to go to the party etc etc and how they are excited to be getting 2 hours free time for themselves.

I was kind of surprised as I go to all of the parties that DD is invited to.

Am I strange?

My son is still in pre-k so I have only been to one of his classmate's party who turned five so far, and all the parents stayed. It was mostly children from his class, too.

Whens we went to DS's cousins 5th birthday a few of the parents dropped off. I think it's the age they start that. I know at his 6th birthday only 2 parents stayed out of 20.
