Birthday Party question-age to have parties out

How old was your DC when you started having their birthdays at a party place/party gym?

DD is turning two and our Mommy and Me friends are all having parties for their DC. I was just goin to keep it small with family and Gianna's BFF. (bff sounds funny when they are two)

DH accually made me feel bad for not throwing her a party at a place when she is going to all these parties.

She is two and I know there are many big parties to come but should I feel bad?

You shouldn't feel bad at all...As a kid, I didn't have parties out of the house until I was 5. I plan on having DS's 2nd bday party at home...I don't plan on starting any out of the house parties until he starts school. At 2-3 years old, I don't think they really know...

Re: Birthday Party question-age to have parties out

My DD will be 2 this year and I'm having it at home. I had my older DD's b-day out last year, mainly b/c I was really only having a kids party, and was having a big to-do for the baby the following week and couldn't handle doing 2 parties in a row. We'll be having it out now most of the time though since she'll be 5 this year. Although, I'd really like to have the parties at home like mine always were...pizza & cake and playing real games instead of having to be entertained. But I guess that's just not what people do anymore.

3. Most of our friends started parties at 3. There were some people who had parties earlier but they did so for 1st and 2nd too.

I would wait until at least pre-school. Also, price it out, once you do I have a feeling Ant is going to go with your original plan.

This year we decided we are not going to be doing a kiddie party and instead take that money and buy the kids a swing set and then the family/friends party at the house.

We are having DD's 2nd brithday at home with close family and small group of her friends. I never liked the idea of having parties at fast food restaurants or expensive play places personally- too many germs!

DD is going to be 4 in March, she is in a 3 year old program and we have only received 1 birthday party invite so far this school year. I think I'm just going to stick with a family party this year, she doesn't seem to understand one way or another.

My DS is 5 and we have yet to have a party out...I really like home parties ( as does he) weather permitting...I'm sure evetually he will want a party "out" but until then I will enjoy this while it lasts....We do invite his friends as well...There are no rules Chat Icon

Re: Birthday Party question-age to have parties out

we had our first at 4.

it was becoming groundhog day for him...always going to someone's party.

we have a small house...I would never have a party here. DH would lose it.
