Birthing Class
Well, this past weekend DH & I attended our 2 day birthing class/lamaze. It was quite fun actually. There was 30 of us, so it was quite a big class. I was so happy DH was so active in the class & really payed attention. I really think it helped him understand the whole process of the pregnancy and what to expect for the birth. We even got a tour of the hospital- L&D, nursery, NICU, Mother & Baby unit. It is a very cozy place, warm colors, and each room is private. They have a couch in each room as well for Dad's & Rocking chair as well. I look forward to the delievery now and think it will be a nice experience.

Re: Birthing Class
We took the Lamaze class when we were expecting our first child. It was very informative and I learned alot. But when it came time for the breathing techniques during labor, that went right out the window. But I am still glad I took the course because I knew what to expect.

Re: Birthing Class
Lamaze breathing is not very helpful during labor because they are counterproductive. Try to research Bradley and Hynpobirthing breathing...they can really help DURING labor.
It is very important to know what is happening to your body, why and when and what to expect next. That helps to keep you calm. Fear can produce more pain during labor. So staying calm is best for you and the baby.

We were last minute taking the class, because we just moved and I am due in like 2 weeks. But the average of the women in the class I was in, where around their 7th month of pregnancy. You might want to check with your doctor if he has an suggestions of where classes are held. Also call the hosptial you are giving birth at, they might offer classes. When I lived in NY, I know St. Charles Hospital offered a variety of classes.

I agree. I did birthing from within and used a doula. It helped a lot to be as relaxed as possible. I could totally tell the difference when I started freaking out at the end compared to when I was relaxing through the contractions.
