Bit of a Scare on the Train This Morning... *UPDATE*

So I was taking the train into the city today for a conference and out of nowhere I felt like I was going to pass out. Chat Icon Not normal for me. Starting stripping off layers and chugging water while cramped between this guy and the window. Had to ask the guy to get up so I could lie down and not pass out!! Luckily he did and was very nice and even checked on me later - though no one else on the train did!! Got to Penn, turned around, caught the next train home and had DH pick me up at an early stop because I couldn't be on the train any more - needed fresh air.

Luckily Chat Icon was kicking up a storm the whole ride home but called DR just in case. Said to go to regular DR to check blood pressure or iron, etc. Or could just have a bug or something. But that was a bit scary at the time!!!

Yes. I had peanut butter on toast with OJ. I've been trying to eat more protein because I had had a couple dizzy spells (though nothing like on the train where I ever felt like I'd pass out!) and was told to eat more protein. I'm just happy the baby's fine, though it makes me nervous that this will come up again. I have a 45 minute commute that I usually drive every day, each way!

I had the same thing happen to me right around 25 weeks. It was very scary. I was at work (I'm a teacher) and all of a sudden I just had to sit down and put my head on the desk. I think I gave my kids a good scare--I wound up having someone cover my class while I went outside to get some fresh air and another teacher gave me something sugary to drink. I felt much better.

You probably overexerted yourself. That was easy, right? Chat Icon

Hope you're feeling better!! Chat Icon

I'm 22 weeks, so maybe. Sure, I'll go with overexerting. Chat Icon Even though I was sitting on a train. Haha. But I'm a teacher too so I worry about that possibility.

I need to stop thinking about it and stressing about it until I see the DR!! Chat Icon Easier said than done, right? Chat Icon

i'm so sorry you had this experience...

I can tell you that my SIL did have the same one, only she DID pass out. She was on the subway and a lovely man gave her an unopened bottle of water and helped her up. It's not uncommon... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Don't stress too much - You and baby are probably totally fine. I take the train to Penn every day and it's not uncommon to see a PG woman look totally uncomfortable and have to take off 3 layers and get up/move around, drink a gallon of water, etc. - Usually once they get OFF the train, they are totally fine. .......

I think when you're in such close quarters w/ no 'escape' it has an effect on your body .........

Hope you feel better !!! Chat Icon

I couldn't agree more. This is why I started taking the express bus instead of the subway (I'm in Queens). I think the air gets kind of "thin" on the train too which doesn't help. Try and take it easy!

Re: Bit of a Scare on the Train This Morning...

Update...

Everything seemed ok but I have to go to the cardiologist tomorrow (eek!) just to be sure. Cuz along with this I've had some instances where my heart races when I'm not doing anything. So cross your fingers for tomorrow, but the DR seemed to think it'd be fine. Said she was sure why I almost passed out - probably just because I'm PG.

I sometimes feel that way on the train as well-- but, my train rides are pretty short. It's a horrible feeling-- glad you are ok!
