blackberry phone help
For those who have a blackberry or any other phone that has the rolly ball feature. I dont know what happened, but for some reason I can't roll it to the right anymore so it won't scroll across the icons which means I can't access have the apps. Is there something I can do to make this work again. Its going up and down without an issue.

Re: blackberry phone help
so it doesn't feel like it's stuck and that's why you can't move it?
If not then I would reboot the berry. Take the battery out and take the sim card out, put it all back in and see what happens.
If that doesn't fix it you may need tech support.

Re: blackberry phone help
do you have a can of compressed air? if so give it a blast. try moving it.
if not, the ball and the casing (metal piece around the ball) pop out if you use your fingerr nail. pop it out and make sure there is no moisture or gunk in there. then pop the ball/casing back in.
if all that fails, do a hard reset (take the battery out; let sit for abt 5 min; put back in).

Re: blackberry phone help
There are probably fuzzies or dirt stuck in where the ball is. I took mine apart and cleaned it, it worked so much better but OMG what a PITA it was!

my coworker took a tiny piece of wet tissue and cleaned it out and used the compressed air. its working again although I was worried that water may make it worse lol.

DEFINITELY be careful with water or any kind of moisture. underneath the track ball and behind the battery are two little white squares. If those squares have any red on them, that means the device has been exposed to moisture, and it automatically voids a warranty. Learned that one the hard way several years ago.
GL! Hope it behaves itself now.

FYI... companies cannot use the litmus paper (little white squares) as the only way to void your warranty. A couple of companies lost class action lawsuits because people sued them over being told their phones got wet because the paper turned red. If you are in a really humid area, the paper can change colors without your phone ever getting wet.
If the paper is red, the company is supposed to look for additional evidence that the phone got wet. If they can't find any they are not SUPPOSED to void your warranty.
