Re: bladder stones?

My puggle Bella had them... The Dr put her on a special food called S/D.. You can't give her ANY treats, cookies, bones... NOTHING... Just the food... But if you cut the food into chunks, and bake it at 350, it makes little treats that she can eat... Also, my Bella was on antibioatics with this b/c she also kept getting UTIs.... This went on for 6 weeks to make sure the food helped dissolve the stone... I forgot the classifications, but the most "popular" bladder stone can be dissolved by this food... Then when we were done with that food, now I had to change her food again to C/D (i think??) to prevent the stones from reforming.... I did this b/c I didn't want to put Bella through surgery if her diet could help get rid of them....

I hope this has helped.. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask... This as been an on/off again thing with Bella since Sept....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: bladder stones?

I'm sorry that you're going through all this, wow...I know that my aunt's pooch had to switch to a special food, but they weren't sure if that would do the trick or not, she wants to avoid surgery if she can....I had never heard of this before...

Re: bladder stones?

Its definately worth changing the food... So far it has worked!!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon I love my little girl, and I couldn't just jump the gun to surgery. Plus the vet was very supportive in trying the food first too!Chat Icon
