Blake Shelton: I Have Nothing to Hide from Miranda

All I gotta say is, "how you got him, is how you'll lose him." I don't think I could live in a marriage where I feel compelled to be told it's okay to go through DH's phone, or his drawers.

From People:

It's been two years since Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton tied the knot, but it hasn't always been total bliss for the couple.

In recent months, the country stars have been the subject of rumors about troubles in their relationship. Now, Shelton is opening up about their marriage – and he tells PEOPLE that there are no secrets between the two.

"[I tell Miranda], 'I have nothing to hide from you,' " he says.

In fact, The Voice judge says one secret to making their marriage work is giving Lambert access to his phone – if she wants it. "That's always been our policy: 'Here's my phone. Go through it,' " he says.

"That's really the kind of trust we have," Shelton continues. "There are no secrets. [I'll say,] 'Go dig through my drawers or my computer if you feel like you need to.' And that's been a really good thing, because I don't want her to ever have any doubts."

Even amid the rumors, Shelton and Lambert seem undaunted. Days before their May 14 anniversary, Shelton jetted to Bakersfield, Calif., for an unannounced performance at Lambert's Pistol Annies show. And the two will appear together Wednesday night for the televised benefit Healing in the Heartland on NBC, which will raise money for victims of the tornado in Shelton's homestate of Oklahoma.

Word. I truly believe that few (I won't say none, but VERY few) relationships that began with cheating will work out. I'm not saying I believe once a cheater, always a cheater, but I know, from experience, that I'd always have that thought in the back of my mind and I'd never feel truly secure in the relationship.

I think it's great that he understands he cheated and Miranda may have doubts. It never said she did go through his things, but that she could when ever she wanted. I think all marriages should be more like this. They seem to have a very open line of communication and nothing to hide.

Re: Blake Shelton: I Have Nothing to Hide from Miranda

I think there are a few deeper issues here.

I have met both Miranda and Blake a few times. With Blake, on two occasions, I spent several hours with him at a fan club event. It was very close and intimate. I got to see different sides of both of them that I would not have seen anywhere on TV or whatever.

First of all, I have to state that I love Blake - I think he's a great person and I think he has been through A LOT. However, that being said, Blake has a very serious drinking problem. I think it stems from the loss of his brother, this is something I can sympathize with. But, I think that problem gets him in trouble - I don't think he initially means to lose control but I think he drinks to the point, and I have seen it, where judgement and all sense of control go WAY out the window.

For Miranda, she's lovely, she's a very nice person - sadly, she is very insecure. I don't know why this is, I know that she had some issues growing up as well and was homeless at one point. I know she has seen a lot in terms of domestic abuse growing up because her family would shelter women affected by that. Not sure WHERE it stems from, but Blake does A LOT of reassuring, Blake does A LOT of "don't worry" and I think he goes to lengths like "here's my phone" and "here's my computer" so she will stop with the negative noise that she is VERY vocal about with him. I don't want to say he does it so she'll stop the "nagging", that sounds so negative, but I think that's the gist of what he is trying to accomplish.

I mean, when we were talking she said something about her weight - right out of nowhere, we weren't even really discussing anything related to that topic. She stated something along the lines of that she feels she has put on a few since she met Blake. So, being a man, and not wanting to say the wrong thing, Blake didn't say anything - I also think he felt it wasn't really the time to engage in a conversation about it. But, it was like she was 'fishing' for him to tell her NOOO you look greeeeat. So, she said "you could say I don't look like I gained weight" and he said "of course you don't, you look awesome" so she said, "see, you lie because you should just admit that I did gain some since we met" LOL he can't win, so, he went back with "I would never tell you that you put on weight, that's not right". And this is the kind of noise that exists in their relationship. Would this EVER be brought up if not by her? Probably not. But this is the kind of mentality.

And, to be fair, Miranda can drink too - like no other woman I have EVER seen drink. It's like holy COW, this girl can knock them BACK. And I mean, hardcore stuff. She's a tough girl - I mean, gun-toting, whiskey shooting, cigarette smoking, leather wearing tough cookie - she kind of intimidates me. She doesn't mince words either and has a mouth like a trucker lol.

He's gentler, by a lot. And their dynamic, if you watch them together, it's VERY telling. All you have to do is spend like 10 minutes with them and you see it. But, I do think they love one another very much. It's just that they have quite a few underlying issues there. Will they ever really deal with them? I don't know because that would require Blake to admit some of his problems and I don't think he sees it as a problem -- probably deep down, he realizes, but he won't surface that.

At one of the performances he had to stop about 3/4 of the way into the show because he was too drunk to continue - he had to be helped off stage and couldn't finish. This happened a few times, sadly. I've seen him close to ten times over the years.

All of that being said, I still really think he's a good person - he just has some demons and she has a lot of insecurities and the whole thing makes for a possible very tumultuous situation.

We shall see.

I have met both Miranda and Blake ...

I know very little about Blake because I am not really a fan (not into country). I have only ever watched him occasionally on The
Voice until this season which I have watched in its entirety. I am sad to hear that he has a drinking problem because they always joke on the show about his "special lattes" that he drinks from a Starbucks cup. I understood that he was drinking alcohol but now I'm disturbed by the fact that they are joking when the guy clearly has a problem. That's sad.

They seem like genuine people (Blake and Miranda). But a relationship with that many issues and so much time away from one another doesn't sound so promising. Hope I'm wrong. I love him on The Voice. He has a great personality.

Honestly, though, you'd need to be as open and unveiled as he is. I don't know if it shows deeper issues, but didn't I read somewhere recently that they get to spend like 2 or 3 months out of the year together, if that? That would make anyone feel insecure.

I think any relationship where you travel and are away a lot is hard add that to the fact that they drink heavily and are around adoring fans who would love to sleep with them AND the fact that we know he cheated in his ex to be with her--yeah they are doomed.

I would be pissed if I bought tickets to his concert and it ended early because he was too drunk to finish...

Yeah we all just felt bad for him -- well, all of us in my group. If you could have seen it, it was just SAD. Maybe other people were a little miffed, I'm not sure.

I guess because he has a problem and I have loved ones who have had drinking problems, thankfully they are now sober, but I guess it was a soft spot - I just felt bad for him. But yeah, I can understand why someone who spent money would be like what gives?! lol

I saw him last night on the Heartland tribute/benefit concert. He pulls it together when he needs to, thankfully.

Yes, this is something that made me cringe every time it was brought up -- it's like, the people that spend time with him KNOW there's an issue, so they make light of it or poke fun at it because I don't think they know what else to do. This is SO common with people who have addiction problems - the people around them feel uncomfortable so they try to make light of it.

The one time, he didn't really do anything, but he must have pisssed Christina off last season -- it doesn't take much, BTW lol... and she said something to the effect of "you've never done a show sober" (meaning, of The Voice) or, "can you make it through a taping sober??" Something like that... I was like, oh shit. Chat Icon

I love Blake. He seems so funny and down to earth. I had heard that he and his wife like to drink quite a bit and from the jokes that come out on the voice, I didn't think it was a problem.

Being too drunk to complete his shows is a problem.

A celeb couple has it rough, there are always tabloids looking to prove one has cheated. I can't imagine being away from my DH and then having to read that he was with another woman. It would be hard to stay trusting.

I had a horrible experience seeing Van Morrison as well. Saw him at Jones Beach and he left halfway through the set because it was raining. Ummm all your fans have been standing in the rain for hours to see you and you can't suck it up?? Never again!
But now that I read your post, it might have not been the rain and maybe he was too drink to finish...lol

I saw him another time at Jones Beach. He started at 8 sharp, doors were at 7:30, no opener. (Set us all up for a loss right there) He just up & left at 9pm!!!!!!! No goodbye, thanks for coming, no encore, nothing. He totally Irished Goodbyed all of us! When the house lights came on the whole stadium was just looking around dumbfounded.

It took us longer to get out f the parking lot than it did to sit & watch his show.

About the proclamation/offer re: Miranda--protesting too much. This doesn't really cross most people's minds to wonder, offer, etc. And if it does...there's at least some reason.

Protesting too much.

We must have been at the same show, because DH and I just looked at each other and said 'thats it?!" When everyone around us started saying the same thing, we were seriously made we spent money to see him. Never again.

To boot when we were buying the tickets we saw that The Allman Brothers were playing at PNC that same night. We wanted to see them as well but opted for VM because it was closer. BAD DECISION....
