Blankets in the Crib???
OK, so Bella slept completely unswaddled last night...being that she is all over the place during the day and starting to crawl we just quit cold turkey...
While DH was lowering the crib, she fell asleep in my arms at 8:15, we put her in the sleep sack and in the crib without a peep. I checked on her after Grey's Anatomy and she was totally snoring with her arms in a T shape, again totally fine...
At about 12:15, she woke up FREAKING out, she was not happy with the sleepsack and was trying to kick her legs out desperately while flailing the arms...so I took the sleep sack off and picked her up to calm her down...when I put her back down she started freaking out again (very unlike her)
DH was about to give up and swaddle her (it's just one arm at this point, feet and other arm are out, she just loves it)
but I remembered that she likes her blanket corner near her face in daycare (the lady told me about it because I gave her a look when I picked her up a few weeks ago while she was sleeping)
So I laid a blanket on her body and put the corner of it near her shoulder, she grabbed it, rubbed her eyes held it near her cheek and passed out...SNORING! She slept like that until 6:30 am this morning without a peep. Is this OK???? I was worried, but it really was the like a light switch was flipped when I gave her that blanket...
I mean, is it OK for an 8 1/2 month old to have a blanket in the crib??? It makes me so nervous...HELP?!

Re: Blankets in the Crib???
Sounds just like Alex! We tried swaddling and the sleep sack and she just wasn't having it. One day we put a blanket on her, and she did the same thing -just konked out immediately. We've been using a blanket ever since. We use something that is very airy, loose and cotton so if she puts her face up against it, she can still breathe. We also tuck the blankie around her body, under her arms... we asked our pediatrician about it and he said it was fine as long as we keep the blanket lowered and it's made of a breathable material.

Jack loves his blankets he was orginally a miracle blanket baby.
This is what we had in his crib when he was 9 months. He will cuddle with his blankets to fall asleep and then moves away. We use a loosely knit blanket my mom made for him.

Re: Blankets in the Crib???
I always put a blanket in Nate's crib. He usually ends up kicking he feet out at some point in the night.

Re: Blankets in the Crib???
I used to swaddle Andrew in a blanket while he liked it, but after 4 1/2 months I always put a blanket in his crib. He mostly kicked it off and slept on top of it. I think if it makes Bella comfy it's OK. Glad she got a good night's sleep!

Re: Blankets in the Crib???
Thanks everyone...so glad to hear that this is OK, they say all these things that cause SIDS and scare the crap out of you, but they never tell you when it's OK to relax a little about it...

Re: Blankets in the Crib???
Jared has been sleeping with a blanket since he was 4-5 months old. I put the blanket on him at night and he kicks it off during the night, but I just cover him up throughout the night.
