bleeding during early pregnancy- a ? for a friend
Let me start by saying that I am NOT pregnant, but my BFF is. She has been having some light bleeding/spotting since Thursday. It has never been heavy or had any clots. She did go to the ER on Thursday and they said everything looked ok, her blood levels were where they should be, so they called it a threatened miscarriage and told her to take it easy, no sex. Obvioulsy she is very afraid right now. Can anyone share stories about early bleeding? Preferably those of you who went on to have healthy pregnancies. Thanks.

I had some light bleeding at 6 weeks right after we saw the heartbeat, then again at 10 weeks & 14. It was never heavy but enough that I was concerned. I went on to have a very healthy pregnancy and healthy DS.

I had bleeding with most of the first trimester. I had a subchorionic hematoma, which ultimately absorbed itself! Good luck to your friend.

Re: bleeding during early pregnancy- a ? for a friend
I had bleeding early on with my second pregnancy - it was red, so I was really concerned. I don't remeber how early it was, but I know that we hadn't even told family yet - so it was before 8 weeks.
They told me everything was okay but to take it easy. Of course, i was scheduled to go on vacation the following week and I was going to be with DD#1 by myself for most of the week.
I ended up going, everything turned out fine. Delivered a very healthy now 2 year old!
Good luck to your friend!!

I had VERY heavy bleeding at the beginning of my pregnancy.... I was SURE I lost both babies (was pregnant with twins at the time).
I went in for a sono a few days later and both babies were there with strong heartbeats.
(not to tell your friend, but I later lost one baby - but had NO bleeding at that time).

I had pretty much the same experience as your friend with my DD and she came out fine, not problems. Actually had to be induced in the end because she didn't want to come out on her own.
Tell your friend to just listen to the doctors and rest and relax. I think i stayed on the couch/bed for about 1-2 weeks. I had spotting/light bleeding for about 5 weeks.
Good luck to your friend.

Re: bleeding during early pregnancy- a ? for a friend
Bled VERY heavily multiple times with DD....I had a sub-chorionic hematoma (blood clot on my uterus-found out how very common they are) and then after that resolved, I had placenta previa which caused more bleeding which lasted just about the whole 9 months of pregnancy....Many ER trips and sonos and she was born a healthy 9lbs13oz...
With my current , I also had some bad bleeding episodes ( again another subchorionic hematoma) ...I am now 33 weeks along with a very healthy baby....
And just as an FYI from what I learned: I had always thought "clots' were a bad thing when in essense they are the opposite (as scary as they are to see) ...Clotting is the bodys way of showing that the "wound" is healing and it is not a fresh bleed...So if she "does" see clotting, it can actually be reassuring ...
If she does spot/bleed, call the OB and in the meantime they say to drink water with your feet up, no lifting !!
Wishing her the best
