bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
I am almost 8 weeks with twins, after a history of losses and failed IVFs. Yesterday while shopping it felt like i was bleeding... of course i always think that b/c Im so damn paraniod.... but i ran to the bathroom and this time i was... it was a lot, too. I went to Stony Brook ER and they sent me to L and D. They checked the babies, both seemed fine, h/bs strong, and the doc thought she saw a spot in the uterus that could be causing the bleeding. So they said that right now the babies were ok and that i should go home, rest, and expect a little more bleeding but then for it to taper off- come back if it gets worse. Im still bleeding lghtly. I am so freaked out. Has this happened to anyone? The nurses said it was common. Im still freaking out. TIA

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
many of us have been there. I had light bleeding (but still bright red) at 5.5 weeks. they saw nothing that could be the cause, and the sono only showed a sac at the time.
Most of the time, women on this site report the situation goes away as mysteriously as it arrived.... but please don't do much for several days... stay at home and avoid much activity at all. just rest.
It seems reassuring that they saw something in your uterus that was not affiliated with the babies (placentas) that might be the cause....
lots of and

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
Jeanna, first off, congratulations I am so happy for you! Second, when I was watching a baby story yesterday, they said that people who have IVF are at more chance of having bleeding. I believe they said that because of all the stress that went on to the uterus, there is more chance of a clot(I believe they said clot, but I am not 100% sure). Make sure that you keep your feet up and rest, rest, rest. Hopefully, other than this you are stress free

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
I had bleeding right about that time, that was spotty and lasted about a week...I am now 19w and still pregnant! Bleeding in the first trimester is so common, and as long as the babies are fine and heartbeats are strong, you're ok...just relax for a couple of days and don't do anything to strenuous...good luck and congrats!!

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
Was it a sub-chorionic bleed they saw ???...I had bleeding also at around 9 weeks and it either gets absorbed back into the body or will come out (which is what mine did)- The OB said it is common w/ IVF...I am 23 weeks now -

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
I had bleeding due to my subchorionic hematoma at 7 weeks... I wasn't allowed to lift anything heavy for a while and I got weekly sonograms, but all is well now and I'm 16 weeks... Hope all is well for you!

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
My friend bled with her twins the entire PG till the day she delivered. Her twois are healthy 6 month olds now.
My Sister bled early in her PG too, she is 14 weeks and baby is fine.
Its OK and common in Twin PG's.
Stay positive is possible!

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
My OB says that the sonogram always always outweighs the symptoms (bleeding). If the sono looked good, you're in the clear. Best of luck.

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
I bled in the beggining. The RE told me it was common with IVF and I think even more so when you are having twins

Re: bleeding in first trimester- reassure me please
I had bright red bleeding at 11 weeks. It really made me worried, but everything was fine. My doctor's office told me to drink a lot of water b/c that can help calm an irritated cervix.
I hope everything is ok with you and the babies.
