Block party ideas?
We're organizing a block party for a few weeks from now. The township is going to barricade the street for us, and even send an EMT to give a demonostration and show the kids the ambulence.
About 50 people are coming - with lots of kids ranging in ages.
Any good ideas for fun, inexpensive games/entertainment?

Re: Block party ideas?
Sounds like fun!
I used to go to a friend's block party every year when I was a kid. They always had all sorts of relay races -- potato sack races, 3-legged races, egg and spoon races. They also had a water balloon toss. You worked in teams of two and after every toss, you had to take a step back. Last one with a balloon that doesn't pop wins. Simple stuff like that is a lot of fun.
Not sure what the budget for the block party is, but a DJ is always great and having someone paint faces usually goes over well with the younger kids.

Tie dyed t-shirt station!!!! I still remember doing this at a party when I was a kid. I had so much fun going it. They had 5 gallon buckets set up with the color written on the side. They provded a bazillion rubber bands, all you had to bring was a t-shirt. I didn't know it was going on so I did my tank top that I was wearing (I had my bathing suit on).
