We book a dj that supplies games, face painting and cotton candy. He organizes continuous games for the kids and adults, so everyone participated. We also book an inflatable water slide and bounce house. Last year we also had an ice cream truck come by at a certain time.

Make sure you have enough light

We had one a couple years ago and didn’t take in effect how dim the street lights were

We had a water slide and dunk tank. Those were big hits

Everyone had their own food

Only thing everyone shared was cotton candy/popcorn

For our house we rented a hot dog cart and it was a huge hit

We had wings and hero sandwiches delivered

Then I made pasta salads and friends brought desserts

Definitely grab n go for food. You don't want to be working and grilling while everyone else has fun. We do heroes and wraps, salads, cheese and pepperoni sticks, dips etc., a crockpot with chili and cornbread on the side. My sister did a taco bar which was a huge hit and make-your-own-sundae bar

for games, we had cornhole and ladder bowling, badminton and a game where you bounce a beanbag or something on a trampoline
kids rode their bikes and scooters and the DJ did fun games with them

For food we usually just do heroes/sandwiches, salads, chips/dips, etc... Last year one of my guests brought pretzels from the Philly pretzel factory and that was a huge hit. My guests brought desserts too.

Some of my neighbors brought their grills to the front and I saw them cook for their guests.
