bloody show or just a result of membrane sweep?

I had my membranes stripped this morning, and there was some bright red blood on the table following and everytime I wiped for about an hour or so.

I've been cramping all day which i heard was normal, but I noticed a decent amount of gooey dark red/brown discharge in my underwear when I went to the bathroom about 3 hours after the appt. I've had the brownish spotting all day, and again had some more of the gooey discharge about an hour ago.

Is this all just a result of the membranes being stripped, or could it have been the bloody show? The color of the bloody discharge was not bright red like it was at my appt, and I read that the bloody show is usually brownish because it's "old blood"

It could be either. I had my membranes stripped with bloody discharge but didn't have my bloody show until they broke my water.

I'd say you'll probably go into labor shortly since you have cramping.

I had my membrane sweep on a wed or thur evening (honestly, I don't remember), no blood or discharge or anything, not even a single cramp or contraction type feeling. Slept AMAZING Friday night, best sleep I'd had my entire pregnancy, woke up around 7am Sat, said, huh, that was a weird pain...fast forward 2hrs 45min, I almost gave birth in my car on the way to the hospital.

So bloody show or no, sounds like you might be starting labor! good luck!
