"Blown in" insulation
Has anyone had insulation "blown-in" to their house. Our house was built in 1929 and is not insulated (as with most houses built before the 40s. )
I understand that insulation can be blown in under the siding from the outside or through the walls inside.
I have a few questions: Have you had this done or know anything about it? How much does this cost? Can you refer someone?
Thank you

Re: "Blown in" insulation
We just did it. Our house is 1931. We used JC home care. It cost about $2200.
It really helps.

Re: "Blown in" insulation
We also used JC Homecare and they did an excellent job. Had the garage conversion done first, then later had the upstairs done. I don't recall the cost but it was reasonable and they added venting in the attic when they did the upstairs. They were not high pressure so I'd highly recommend getting an estimate.

Re: "Blown in" insulation

Re: "Blown in" insulation
Thanks for the references
There are different techniques - I've heard about the foam stuff and even shredded news paper filling the gaps in the walls
They explain their process here

Re: "Blown in" insulation
We just had this done on the first floor of our house. we used hunter insulation. They removed a strip of siding around the house, drilled some holes into the walls and pumped in the insulation with a big hose. The insulation that they used was like the regular pink stuff but it looked like it was shredded up. If you want any more info, feel free to fm me.
