Blue Man Group
I was thinking about buying tickets for DH for Father's day. He's not really a "musical" type of person, but he does enjoy comedy clubs and stuff like that. I just thought it would be something different and fun to do.
What's it like?
Bring DS or no? He's 3 1/2? He can manage going to the movies and what not but would we have a better time alone?
How dirty do you really get if you sit in the front?
Do they talk or are they just acting things out?
ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT...TIA!

They act things out. It's musical but funny. I definitely would not bring a 3.5 year old. They don't recommend it for under 5 years old. I never sat in the front rows but they do give you a plastic sheet.
If you opt to go, make sure to call the theatre ahead to have his name on the scrolling LCD display for his birthday. The audience will say (not sing) happy birthday to him.

I've gone twice. It's a lot of fun! I wouldn't bring a 3 1/2 year old though. If you sit in the front they give you a poncho. I've never sat in the front so I'm not sure how dirty you really get. Bring your camera to take pictures with the guys at the end. They come out after the show is over for pictures.

we went 3 years ago and it was really good. As far as messiness - i dont think its too bad. Like a PP said, they give you a sheet. I wouldnt bring a 3 year old though.

Re: Blue Man Group
OH MY GOD..I LOVE THIS SHOW. i've seen it 4 or 5 times..including once at the Venetian in Vegas.
They do not utter a word. Its funny though b/c they do have signs and stuff for you to read during some acts and its very witty.
there are skits with captain crunch, marshmallows, colored paints, lots of weird things. they have volunteers from the audience etc. the end is just friggan awesome.
I would not bring a 3 1/2 year old b/c there are lots of strobe lites at the end and its loud and honestly, the men in blue paint might freak him out, the band is dressed in weird costumes too...so he might get scared by that.
If you sit in the front 3 or 4 rows i think, they give you ponchos to wear. You dont get much on you really. the end involves toilet paper so you get covered in that, but its just paper.
Its so much fun and now i want to go again!

Re: Blue Man Group
I went a few years ago and we sat in the middle.. I went to the one in the city and it's not a big theatre from what I remember.. but I wouldn't bring a 3 1/2 yr old.. It might be a little scary for him esp since when i went, they came into the audience and stared you down!!!

Re: Blue Man Group
Ok.. will not bring DS.. it really doesn't matter to me weather or not he comes. I just didn't want to not bring him if it was a family thing or someting he'd enjoy
and now I really want to go..
I checked online and it was online like $75 or $80 for he first row (in NYC)
I was more just worried about if someone who is not into musicals would like it.. but it seems like you guys think it's a yes.

its totally NOT a musical. My DH hates musicals and he liked this show. Not as much as me..but he did enjoy himself.
Have fun!
