Bluestone vs paver steps
We need to do our front steps. They are currently brick pavers that are worn. I got quotes for both new brick pavers and bluestone. The bluestone was more money, but does anyone know if bluestone will last longer? I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay more for it. I do like the way the pavers look but want the front steps to look good and last for a while. Tia!

Bluestone vs paver steps
I have a large blue stone front porch. I love the look of it and its wearing well. It was installed by the previous owner so I don't know how old it is. I do have to caution you it ices up terribly in the winter and you have to be careful about what you use on it.

Yes, thanks, I think its the same for pavers that you have to be careful on what you use. My current brick is damaged from weather/salt.
Anyone else have any input?

Not sure if you're in Suffolk but I know of a great mason. They don't advertise but came highly recommended and did a great job on my parents front stoop and back patio. Will FM you info. I personally would go with blue stone. They have tons of pics to show you.

I have blue stone. I do not know how old it is or when the porch was done. I have owned the home for a year and a half.
My entire stoop needs to be re cemented. I have many loose pieces and some are cracking. It is extremely slippery in the winter especially with/for DS.They're slippery even when they are just wet. I have brick pavers for my back patio. I do not find them to be as slippery in the wintertime because of the surface texture.
I am hoping we will be able to redo our porch next year and will be replacing the current surface.

The salt really eats away at bluestone so you have to be careful in the winter.

you shouldn't be using the salt on pavers or concrete either and will eat away at both.
we have bluestone and like it, prefer the look, had it installed 3 years ago. It is VERY slippery when icy out.... but then again, its ice
