Blydenburg Dog Park Question

I have a 30 lb. puggle and he LOVES other dogs. I'd like to take him to the Blydenburg Dog Park but I heard the small dog section is mostly 10 lb. puppies and the large dog is for the big guys. Is there a spot that would be appropriate for my dog?

He loves to rough around so I think he could handle the big guys but I also don't want him getting hurt.

Thoughts?

Re: Blydenburg Dog Park Question

I think he might work out in the small dog section. My dog is 15 lbs and I can see a dog twice his size in there. But I am not 100% sure if there is a weight rule. I still consider dogs that are 30lbs small-medium.

I have also seen smaller dogs in the big dog section. I think you will find the experience different each time you go. When my dog was in between sizes, we would go to both but if I saw that there was a dog bullying other dogs, I switched him over to the small section.

Re: Blydenburg Dog Park Question

Last time we were there we saw two Old English Sheepdog puppies who were definitely HUGE compared to the rest of the dogs in the small area.

There are also always smaller dogs in the large area ... so I think it would depend on how your dog would react to each situation.

Except for the one ridiculously busy/crowded day we went, I don't think there's a lot of "big dog bullying of smaller dogs" in the large area in my experience.

Re: Blydenburg Dog Park Question

At the Middle Island park, the big dog section is 30 lbs and up. So your little guy is right on the brink, where I feel like you could bring him into either section. If I was you, I would just scope out the size of dogs in each and how rowdy they are, and maybe decide accordingly.
