Same Day Delivery in Manhattan ...
Has anyone done this? I ordered something at 9:30 a.m. this morning. It says that it will ship today UPS 2 day standard or something. Why doesn't it say it'll be here today? my credit card was already charged so I know that it's ready to ship out.
Did I miss something? Is there something I should have chosen? Grrrr, I need my books!

Maybe the book you chose isn't available fpr same day shipping? I would call them and find out.

Because same day delivery means they will probably SHIP your item on the same day. They aren't going to get the book in your hands on the same day you order.
What did you think... they are going to messenger you the item?

Damm I stand corrected. I just checked and they can guarantee some orders and have them in your hands same day.
Pretty cool... but you will have to call them to find out what the deal is i guess.

Rich, sorry but you are mistaken
Barnes and Nobles DOES have a "same day shipping" (AND receiving) policy for people in Manhattan.... they DO get you the item the same day, as long as you order by a certain time... but it is subject to availability
Lisa, I have never used this option before, but I know of some who have and have had "Iffy" luck with it.. seems the items often come after business hours, so maybe its better for those who live in Manhattan... Also I think it purely depends if the items are in stock in their NJ warehouse

Yes, they do guarantee same day delivery, but sometimes it's after office hours. I've done this many times, but only about half of the time do I get it before I leave the office for the day.

it says ready to ship/in stock. so I guess I may get it today, if not tomorrow. I better get it by 3 tomorrow, I want it for a plane ride

Well it shipped from the warehouse but has not reached the delivery center yet. Once it does, it'll be sent to me ... so I don't expect it until at least late tonight (when I'm gone) or tomorrow sometime.

Was the order for just one book? If one qualifies for same day shipping, and another one isn't, they send both of them with the one that does not qualify.

3 books, all qualified for same day shipping, all in stock, all shipped together already. Just might not make it by 5 p.m.
 Oh well, as long as it gets here tomorrow.

I've used the option - and had to wait 5-7 business days. While it's same day in Manhattan, if the truck symbol isn't next to the item - it's standard shipping.
I complained to them that they need to make that more prominent - I was running to bookstores to get the book I ordered for my friend's birthday - very annoying!
So what book did you get?

It's at the delivery center now. It is being delivered by lasership, it must be their own delivery service.
