For over a week now, Christine Drakatos—one of our dedicated volunteers and a devoted dog rescuer—has been working tirelessly to take care of lost and abandoned dogs in Far Rockaway, an area hard-hit by the hurricane. She is currently providing them with food, water, and hay, but she desperately needs our help in giving them a sturdier, more secure set of feeders, waterers, and dog shelters, since it may take a while before the dogs’ owners can return.

Below are some items that would be most useful in her efforts, any of which can be shipped to Bobbi and the Strays, 2 Rider Place, Freeport NY 11520.

The Mayor’s Alliance announced recently that a pet food distribution center will be set up in Far Rockaway—perhaps our Facebook fans have the latest update? Please feel free to share information in the comments section.
