BOCES Transcript Review Help!
I was told BOCES would be great in helping me figure out what I needed to get my Early Childhood Cert. (I'm already Elementary Ed Certified). I called BOCES, and the woman I spoke to on the phone wasn't very clear. She said I had to submit the online application on the TEACH website, then send in my transcript with a $25 money order. Eastern Suffolk was the only BOCES that does this apparently. I am so confused on this website.
Has anyone done this before? Am I actually applying for certification? Has anyone gotten their Elem. Ed. certification and tried this way to get another certification? Any help would be appreciated! It just seems really expensive to do it this way and for them to tell me I'm 5 classes and student teaching shy of my certification.

Re: BOCES Transcript Review Help!
Hello, I got my early childhood regular and special ed certification from boces. On the teach website I saw what I was missing to get the certification(6 credits in early childhood any classes) and then I applied through TEACH, checked the BOCES review option and mailed my transcripts to BOCES. I actually forgot the $25 and they sent me a letter a few weeks later. A few weeks later my two certifications arrived. It was actually very easy. I think I applied in May and my certifications were as of Sept 1. I went through Nassau Boces. Barbara Meskill was very helpful. It was so much easier doing this then going back to school. HTH

Re: BOCES Transcript Review Help!
I got my second certification through them. You apply on-line and the requirements will pop up. As they are satisifed (ie. BOCES receives your transcripts and reviews them, CST scores post, etc.) their status will change. You can see pretty clearly exactly what you are missing.
The longest wait is for the actual certificate. When I went through it (about a year ago) there was a 15 week wait on printing the actual certificates . Hopefully they have gotten better by now.
ETA: To answer your question - yes, you are technically applying for your certification. Once you meet all of the requirements, BOCES will mail you your certificate.
