Bonus for Cleaning Lady Who is Leaving Us? Yay or Nay?
My cleaning lady of 6 years is leaving us as she is getting older and cleaning houses is becoming too much for her.. she is looking into cleaning apartments in the city instead.
Tomorrow is her last day- she has always been reliable and truthworthy and she will be missed.. My question is.. I would typically give her a holiday bonus of one week pay, as she is leaving close to the end of the year-- should I be giving her an end of year/ leaving bonus or is it not expected?

I would. She has been with you a long time and the reason she is leaving is she can't do it anymore. I think it would be a very nice gesture.

I completely agree, given the circumstances of why she is leaving.

I think it would be a really nice gesture since it is almost the end of the year and the holidays are coming up. It sounds like she's also semi-retiring so I think it would be a nice gift.

It would definitely be a nice gesture and I'm sure much appreciated. It's such a strenous and underappreciated job. It's really great that you'd do that.

If her leaving coincides with a normal holiday bonus, I would not give anything additional.
