Boo-boos and questioning....

A certain someone (Chat Icon ) has something to say about every little mark that appears on Ryan....

He scratches himself all the time (ok-ok- Im so bad @ cutting his nails....) and now with him, walking, crawling, standing etc... he is getting into everything....

I spend all day with him... and ALWAYS have my eyes on him... but even with me sitting right there- playing toys with him, he'll bump himself....

Have the time... I never notice a mark... but hawk eyes notices everything and always questions it.Chat Icon Chat Icon
(IE: this morning he was trying to pull his hat off in the car, and I guess manages to scratch his forehead- I noticed nothing... but when we got inside- her 1st words were "what happened to his head"- I looked and said "what theres nothing there" she said look- theres a scratch "I was like I dont see anything..." later on brought him to work... no one saw anything there either Chat Icon

Its just driving me insane... what answer does she want... "I beat my kid??" Chat Icon Chat Icon

He's a boy... and a very active one at that..... what does she want me to do.... (Ohhhh thats right-she feels he should only be allowed to play in a pack n play Chat Icon )

How do you all handles uninvited/ unwelcome questions???

Working in daycare- I know that NOTHING is taken with a grain of salt..... Since their @ss is on the line if anything ever surfaces... BUT that is a little extreme....

Whats driving me crazy as that- the kid has had a total of 2 (count em') 2 boo-boos his entire life(which were small and gone within 24hrs).... everything else she sees.... is non exsistant!

Re: Boo-boos and questioning....

My mother does this all the time! "Oops...another scratch. How'd he get that one?" Honestly, the majority of them, he gets from his own fingernails. My own mother knows I wouldn't hurt my own child. I guess she's just commenting on them for the sake of saying something? Chat Icon

I usually just say "Oh, I haven't had a chance to cut his nails, he must have scratched himself," and that's usually enough. If it's something bigger than a scratch I'll usually say "He was a little rough playing today and he bumped himself."

I would just say "He scratched himself - just like every other baby does." If she comments further maybe you could just say "You did raise your kids? You must know that these things happen."

eta. or you could go the sarcastic route & say "He scratched himself while I was beating him. Clearly those are defense wounds."Chat Icon
