Book Reccs Needed
My bookclub is looking for a new book, a book by a male author. We typically read female authors but thought we should go a different route this time. Any ideas?

What type of genre do you usually read?
- Wally Lamb - She's Come Undone - Arthur Golden - Memoirs of A Geisha - Milan Kundera - Unbearable Lightness of Being - TC Boyle - Friend of the Earth; The Inner Circle - Jack Finney - Time and Again - Augusten Burroughs - Running with Scissors; Dry

One of my favorites is Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner.
Midwives by Chris Bohjalian Empire Falls by Richard Russo The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen
I also liked Memoirs of a Geisha

This is great, thanks! We've been reading a mix: Memory keepers daughter, my sisters keeper, their eye were watching god, we need to talk about kevin - all women authors though, so we thought we'd try something new.

This is not what I would call a "feel good" book, but the writing is excellent and I thought the character development was outstanding.

Re: Book Reccs Needed
I read the Corrections. It was good. Have you guys read Kite Runner? That is on a lot of book club lists and its supposed to be very good.

"The Corrections" is definitely worth reading! I also recommend almost anything by John Irving. "Little Children" by Tom Perrotta was also very good.

I think we're going with Kite Runner this time - thanks for all the suggestions - we now have a list for the next few months! I would like to read John Irving too.

Re: Book Reccs Needed
While some of John Irving's books are some of my all time favorites, he does have a few stinkers. The ones I have enjoyed most are:
A Prayer for Owen Meany The Hotel New Hampshire The World According to Garp Cider House Rules A Widow for One Year
