bookcrossings...

I wanted to let you all know of a website called www.bookcrossings.com. Basically you register you already-read books on the website. You write a little message inside saying that the books are registered on the website, and that if anyone "finds" them to go on and post a review after they've read it, and then you pass the book on. You can just leave it somewhere like in a coffee shop or the laundrimat, or you could give it to a friend and start a book sharing club, where all your friends pass books on to eachother and comment on them after they've read it. For people who like reader's guilds or who usually donate thier books after reading them, it's a fun way to do it. I'm signed on but haven't passed on any books as of yet. I'm deciding which ones I'd be willing to part with!!

Re: bookcrossings...

My friend sent me an email about this. I want to try it, but haven't signed up yet.

Re: bookcrossings...

The thing that makes me not want to do it is that I don't want to just leave my books anywhere, not knowing if they'd get picked up or if people would log them into the site. But I think it would be great for a "book club" type thing. The only problem is that very few of my friends actually read.

Re: bookcrossings...

I do it and only one of my books was picked up and journaled. Still, it was interesting to see what other people thought of the book and besides, once I have read them, there is not much I can do with them anyway.
I have released about 10 books, which isn't a lot compared to what I have seen other people do.

Re: bookcrossings...

How about if we leave a book and then post where we left it, so one of us picks it up? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think that sort of defeats the purpose though, right? Chat Icon
