BOPS!!
How are the last two weeks with SD?? Still talking on the phone? I  your progress is continuing!

Yes yes yes !!!...Thank you for asking  !!.....My DH speaks to her twice a week still, usually mid week and on the week-end....He actually spoke to her on Wednesday for I'd say 20-25 minutes ( BM wasnt home) ....He says he can tell a difference though when BM is home, for instance on Saturday, he called there and the answering machine picked up and SD called back 2 minutes later and DH heard an echo in the phone ( like someone maybe listening or a recorder maybe) and she was more yes/no than when her BM isnt there- but still saying I love you and tell everyone hello and I love them , totally inprompted which is really nice  ...We are definately making small steps here  ...And DS speaks to her more and more everytime she calls whuch is awesome !
Now the most curious of things though ( unrelated to SD) is that BM hasnt cashed her checks from November for childcare and extra-curriculars and hasnt sent new receipts for December , which always leads us to believe she is up to something  ( DH sends everything certified so we have proof) ...hopefully its just an oversight, but with her- you just never know !

Ok- just checked and BM finally cashed Novembers checks so hopefully it was just a fluke ( see how paranoid she gets us  ) !!!!

that is wonderful that you are making progress with her!!! So happy for you....has she visited you at all since the communication has opened up? A visit would be great for all of you.
BTW.....I just read about BM not cashing November's check....would you believe we had the SAME thing witht he check not getting cashed until last week?

That is funny about the checks
No visits yet dicussed...We are just going to take it very slow and are hoping that maybe she might initiate something on her own eventually, or as things progress further we can mention just getting together to go to lunch or going to one of her competitions- something along those lines...She is still very fragile and has betrayal issues w/ the BM, thats for sure and is soemthing that I don't know how or if can be reversed...
Its such a shame for so many reasons because my DH has a very large close extended family ( he is one of seven bros/sis's) and BM has no-one she gets along with in her family ( but one out of state sister) ...For instance , when DH spoke to her on Thanksgiving, he asked what she was doing for the day and she said she was staying home w/ BM & her step-dad ( older sister was going to her dad's) ...he asked if they were having anyone over and she said - the neighbor ( a single guy) across the street might come over for dessert ..The step-dad has grown kids, I'm thinking Bm must have got her claws in them too...Meanwhile at my SIL's , there were probably 20-25 people, including her cousins etc...My DH was tempted to say " you are welcome to come with us" but didnt think the timing was right and I agree....Its too new still and BM would have lost it ....Anyway, I am just happy contact is being made on a regular basis and hoping as she matures even more, it can get back to the way it was for 8 years In the meantime, we will keep doing what we are doing and hope it happens soon !!!
