Borderline high FSH - should I be worried?

Of course I feel sick since Dr. Saketos' nurse just called to tell me that my FSH is borderline high - I googled that and I'm not too happy about what I read... They told me to continue to go for my tests (hsg and blood work) and to call them on my next cycle to make an appt for day 3.

Is there a chance my FSH could go down?

Donna, do you know the number?

FSH can vary month to month, and there are quite a few things you can do (herbs, diet, acupunture, etc) to help bring it down.

And, I know plenty of women with HIGH FSH that got pg.

No Lisa I don't - I was just in shock hearing from the nurse (I'm at work, she called on my cell phone, people are by my desk, etc) so it started to sink after she called and after I started looking at the internet. I tried calling the office but it's closed?!?!

can you share any tips for lowering it? or direct me to websites? Thanks!

Mine is also high! I think the nurse said that the high end is 9 and I'm 10. I haven't gone for my follow-up appointment yet, so I don't know what this means.......Chat Icon

Re: Borderline high FSH - should I be worried?

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) Day 3 3-20 mIU/ml FSH is often used as a gauge of ovarian reserve. In general, under 6 is excellent, 6-9 is good, 9-10 fair, 10-13 diminished reserve, 13+ very hard to stimulate. In PCOS testing, the LH:FSH ratio may be used in the diagnosis. The ratio is usually close to 1:1, but if the LH is higher, it is one possible indication of PCOS.
Estradiol (E2) Day 3 25-75 pg/ml Levels on the lower end tend to be better for stimulating. Abnormally high levels on day 3 may indicate existence of a functional cyst or diminished ovarian reserve.

I found this tidbit on the web.
