Bores Head Turkey
I just bought bores head honey maple turkey breast (cold cuts) from the deli to make lunch for myself this week and DH told me that he read that you are not suppose to eat cold cuts when you are pregnant. Is this true??

Whoah...how does your DH know? Glad to see some guys take an initiative when it comes to reading up on pregnancy info!
But, really, it should be totally fine.

Re: Bores Head Turkey
Every dr. says differently. But you def. should not eat if regularly. Deli meats carry listeria and some other bacteria. So unless you are heating the meat up to kill the bacteria, its not something that you should indulge on for a daily routine.
However, there are ladies on here that eat it regularly with no problems. I did eat it on occassion but have since stopped.
you have to use your own preference.

I heard that too. BUT I also know that it has to do with the cleaning of the slicers and such. So be weary of where you purchase your cold cuts. Make sure it's reputable and clean.

My Dr. said stay away from all deli meat and cheese, listeria only has to be on one thing and it can spread throughout the deli counter.
We can encounter it unaffected but it can affect the baby.

Re: Bores Head Turkey
I looked this up online awhile back and decided to not eat coldcuts all the time. I have it once in awhile (but usually I will put them in the sandwich maker to heat them up)

Re: Bores Head Turkey
I eat cold cuts a lot, not everyday, but 2 -3 times a week. I always get it from the deli i have been going ot for years or from Au Bon Pain in my office building.
Just as long as it from a trusted place, you are OK. Enjoy your luches!

Absolutely! Everything in moderation! Don't eat everyday, but you don't have to avoid it! Subway is my biggest craving with this pg! I have eaten cold cuts with DD and with this pg too.

As long as I can have a grilled cheese sandwich-that's okay, right? It's heated?

Quiznos is mine! Yum!!!
I didn't know anything about the whole listeria thing until my new practice gave me information on it in my new patient folder.
