Bottle cleaning/sterilizing for a dummy.
OK, I feel like a dummy, but I gotta ask these questions. 1. I never use my dishwasher...there's only been the two of us so far and there just aren't enough dishes to bother. So I got the dishwasher bottle accessory holder and I put all the bottles and stuff in the dishwasher to wash them when I took them out of the package. When I took everything out, the bottles and nipples have whitish spots all over them. Is this just water spots and OK (even though I used Jetdry which is supposed to stop that, right?) or is it leftover soap that didn't get rinsed off? 2. So I got a micorwave steam sterilizer and I put everything in there after the dishwasher to see how it worked and everything was dripping wet when it was done. Do I then have to let everything sit out and dry before I put it away so it doesn't get bacteria? Will sitting on the counter for a long time exposed tot he air defeat the whole purpose of sterilizing it? TIA!

I'm not sure about the dishwasher, but I use the Avent Electric Sterilizer, and no matter how long they sit in it, the never dry. EVER. I just use them that way.

What kind of nipples did you have? The latex (yellowish - brownish) can't go in the dishwasher, only silicone (clear).

They're the clear ones from the Dr. Brown's bottles.

I never had a problem...before I got my dishwasher I boiled the nipples, try that

I use the dishwasher to wash all the bottles and pieces and then when I take them out I rinse them quick and let them dry in the dishrack, I don't know why but I just feel like it rinses off any residue from the dishwasher

I use this too. After they are done, I let them dry on a bottle rack. Yes, that probably defeats the purpose of sterizing but it makes me feel better to sterilize! LOL!

My question is...if you just sterilized the bottles and then you run them under water from the sink and then put them in the dishrack then are they unsterilized then? I went to put the nipple under water the other day and stopped because I didnt know if i would be working backwards??? I just use the microwave sterilizer and let them sit in that???
How could something so simple be so confusing??
