Re: bottles and nipples?
the Dr. Browns bottles comes with the size 1 nipples and a little brush to clean the bottle/nipple, when you need a faster flow nipple when the baby gets older , you'll have to buy it separately but they have them everywhere

Re: bottles and nipples?
Dr Browns are good..from what Ive heard any way...I would buy a couple of extra packs of nipples though..I just always found that you needed more than you think.
I swear by Playtex nursers..so if you wind up not liking the Dr Browns I would try the Playtex nursers...they are so easy. Especially in the newborn period. You just have to sterilize the nipple...the inserts are alreay sterilized. I found the girls got a lot less air with them as well b/c you squeeze out all the air first..

Re: bottles and nipples?
are 6 bottles 4 oz. enough? what is the point of having wide-neck bottles?

I would not get too many 4 oz bottles, you should get more larger (8 or 9 oz) bottles and just fill them up to whatever you need....as far as the wide mouth, those are good for babies who will be breast and bottle fed becuase the wide-mouth nipples are more like a natural breast...hth
for the record, I use and LOVE avent bottles, no problems with gas or anything

ITA with everything including the Advent bottles.
I couldn't be bothered washing all the pieces for those dr browns bottles.
