Bought some new plants this weekend

Everything is from Cheap Sams. Very happy. Chat Icon

These are for the privacy screen outside my 4 foot fence (full sun):

Euonymus 'Silver King'

Snowmound Spirea

This I have no idea where this is going but it's such a pretty compact plant, I had to get it:

Vanhoutte Spirea

These are for my shade garden:

Japanese Painted Fern

Heuchera 'Ginger Ale'

Heuchera 'Marmalade'

To go with those Heuchera, but they didn't have it in stock today, I need to go back for Heuchera 'Peach Flambe':

And this is for my perennial border:

Rudbeckia 'Goldstrum' (Black Eyed Susan)

Lets pray for a good weather holiday weekend, so I get all this stuff in the ground!

Nice! DH and I went to HD (it was the only place open after class last night) and I got a Japanese maple, some sweet potato vines, purple & white petunias and some caladiums. I hope to get them after work this week BEFORE we have people over.

Euonymus 'Silver King': I got some of them last year and I fell in love with those bushes. Love the color combination and the leaf shape.

I love my coral bells too. I have them in deep burgandy/greenish. They are great for sun/shade. They are very hardy. I have been very successful with them.

Re: Bought some new plants this weekend

Thanks ladies! Some of the pricing on the things in the greenhouses especially weren't as good as Garden Dept (Depot) so I didn't buy them. For instance - I want Russian Sage and at Cheap Sams they were $10.98 a pot but at Garden Dept they're $9.99. I know one dollar is not that much but in the long run it will be - I'm going to be buying a LOT. Chat Icon

I am now on the lookout for other shrubs that grow to 6 feet but has something in common with the euonymus & spirea. Something that's variegated, something that's white and green, something that has the same cascading shape... Whatever.

Two more wide shrubs should do it. Maybe a variegated maiden grass?

External Image

The fence behind it is white and so is the dogwood tree right in the middle so I think the whole white/green theme would work there.

What about Rhododendrons with white flowers? They don't go to 6 ft but they will go to 4-5 feets and about 4 feet wide. They are evergreen so that's great for the Winter too.

That's a good idea, thanks! Depending on how much this stuff fills in, I could still have a few feet in front of them for smaller shrubs. I think that's next year's project though!

I showed DH the picture of the grass and he really liked it so after work tonight, I went to Garden Dept and picked up three Variegated Miscanthus. Chat Icon

I also got a few

May Night Meadow Sage

Magnus Purple Coneflower (echinacea)

I just found out that Lady's Mantle can be invasive if it's given it's desired condition - part sun. Chat Icon
