boy mommas- please tell me they get less rough/accident prone!
DS is now 18 months- he is totally putting me through the ringer!
Yesterday I had him @ work with me and he somehow got ahold of windex (which is in the back supply room- not sure how he got in there as it is closed)- and he sprayed some in his MOUTH! I had to call poison control and they took my name & number, which must mean I am now on the "bad parent" list.
then DH was giving him a bath and DS somehow pulled the shower tower out and hit himself in the mouth and KNOCKED OUT HIS TOOTH!!!! Those beautiful baby teeth that took so long to come in, and that I painstakingly brush nightly fell out.. and there is nothing they can do about it.. he will have a missing tooth until the adult tooth comes in.
Then, this morning I took him to my moms and in 5 minutes he broke a vase and then he crawled on the fireplace mantle and opened the fireplace and pulled out old soot!!!! All while exclaiming, "whoa!"
I just can't keep up with him- he's a whirlwind!!!!!
Tell me they calm down!

Re: boy mommas- please tell me they get less rough/accident prone!
Typical boy! I have an almost 2 year old. He likes to give me a heart attack as well. He chipped a tooth already. He likes to venture out on his own all the time. No concern where mommy is or anything. I follow him and keep telling him he HAS to stay by mommy or daddy. His new thing is playing on the landscaping, climbing all the rocks and trying to go into the bushes, trees, etc.
All I can say is I hope it gets better, but I look at my nephews who are 6 and 9... they just fight with the toy guns, playing video games, etc...

Re: boy mommas- please tell me they get less rough/accident prone!
I can totally relate! After 2 girls my son is giving me a run for my money! He does not stop! He is now 26 months and he has not slowed down. Over the summer when he was 18 months I had him at the emergency room twice in 6 weeks! The first time he needed a staple in the back of his head then the second time he needed to get his lip/chin glued! So don't worry, I think I am ahead of you on the bad parent list! I am hoping it will get better, but I think this may be a glimpse into what a boys life is all about! My girls were never in the ER and the worst part it doesn't phase him. With the head cut, there was blood on some of the toys and the floor and we were like who is bleeding? He goes running by like everything id fine and we see his hair full of blood. He's afraid to miss a beat!
Hoping this will pass!

Welcome to penis land. Ds is almost 2.5 and just now slowing down a tiny, tiny bit. We have given up jumping off thigs, ie:couch, coffee tables, beds. But we are still a bull in a china store. He was at my mothers the other day. We were there 15-20 mins. He pushed a screen thru the window trying to get a bug. Knocked over the heavy bar stools, and managed to lock himself in the bathroom. Ihave no answers for you. Buckle up and enjoy the madness. Oh, and a lot of makes it all better.

OMG it never stops. Ever. We just went through stitches with Ryan (Fell into the wall after running for the 1000th time in a circle), huge bumps on the head, split lips etc...It just never stops.
You should see my boys legs. When i go to bathe them i am always shocked at how many bruises cover their poor legs. I always tell DH that CPS will be at my door! They run and fall constantly. And play "superheroes" and "let jump and crash on anything we can find". Lol

Sorry..it doesn't seem to calm down It's always something and with two boys I feel it double time. If it's not one it's the other...and God help me when it's both.

Re: boy mommas- please tell me they get less rough/accident prone!
DS will be 19 months on the 13th and I still havent taken him for his 18 month well visit because I'm afraid of what the ped will think...bruise below his eye, fat lip, scrape on his nose, banged up legs. I'm afraid she'll call CPS on me This kid will not sit still for a moment. He climbs on everything

Getting to be bad here too. DS is 18 months and is constantly on the go... His legs are covered in bruises... He loves to jump on the couch or the bed. He tries to get off the bed on his own which is rather high. He is going to break a leg one day. He loves to pull the lamp over. SO far, knock on wood, no major accidents. He is so strong willed and doesn't listen to no...

It's not just boys, my DD is rougher than her wild boy cousins and can get into anything with the best of them.

My son was nothing compared to my daughter, she is rough and tumble, always on something or into something. She climbs on chairs, benches, boxes, in cupboards. My boy was never like this!

Oh lord, I'm going to need to stock up on smelling salts I think. I DO NOT deal well with blood...let alone knocked out teeth and stitches.
I was hoping after following two older sisters, my son would be a calm one (not that DD#2 is...she's a wild child!), but Graciesmom just shot that hope to bits for me. Thanks.

My DS was the mild one. My DD on the other hand is 22 months old. Got 11 stitches already. Got the glue stitches also, knocked out one of her teeth, had black eyes. So it's not just boys. LoL. My DD is a tomboy all the way.
