BOYS & 1st haircut..
DS is 13 months old and has alot of hair.. Im totally putting off the 1st haircut because I DO NOT want him to look like a big boy!
My 1st DS- was bald and didnt get his 1st hair cut until he was close to 18 months old... (and TBH- he didnt even *NEED* it- I was just anxious to have another "first" with him)- Immediately after the cut he looked like such a big boy... but at 18 months, I could deal...
DS is still such a baby to me, and I just want to keep him looking that way as long as possible...
BUT- Im so tired of hearing from everyone that he "NEEDS A HAIRCUT".. Ill admit, that it is in his eyes a little bit, and around his ears- it looks like he has "wings"- but when his hair is brushed, it doesnt look bad at all!!!
So basically... is there a way to cut his hair, and avoid the "big boy" cut... Does anyone have pictures they can share????
I mean...is it really THAT bad???
(this photo is about a month old- so its a bit longer now)
When its a little wet and brushed down...

Re: BOYS & 1st haircut..
We had to take Ryan for his first haircut at about 10 months. It was just out of control (in length) and I was sick of everyone telling me I had a beautiful daughter.
We went on the shorter side with his first haircut so he did look like a big boy when he was done. But why not just give it a little trim?
This was Ryan about a month before haircut:

Just tell them you want it neatened up, not short.

Re: BOYS & 1st haircut..
I would just trim up the front so it isn't in his eyes. I think they get the big boy look when there hair is too cleaned up short or long.

I would bring the front up a bit and bring it up on the sides too. Just don't get into short layering. I would do long layering so you you can brush his hair to the side better. Just explain yourself to the hairdresser carefully.

Re: BOYS & 1st haircut..
We did Jack's haircut at a year & my DD's 1st haircut at almost 3 (together)!!
Here are his before/after. I was afraid he'd look like such a big boy too..they basically just trimmed it/ buzzed around the ears.
He needed it though...he had the wings over the ears & it was in his eyes.
Don't mind his wet hair
And after

Re: BOYS & 1st haircut..
MY DS WAS BORN W alot of hair so at 4 month I trimmed the back ( he had a mullet) and he's 13m old a continually am cutting it my self. I cut a section when it bothers me. I cut it kinda haphazardly to keep the baby look. But I know what it's like to get asked when are u going to cut his hair questions
