Boys and favorite color?
Here are some of my most recent conversations with my 3 year old DS:
Me: Lucas, what is your favorite color? Lucas: Pink
Me: Lucas, your new bed is coming next week, what kind of sheets do you want? Lucas: Minnie Mouse!
Me: Lucas we need to get you new slippers, what kind do you want? Lucas: Pink ones
I'm just wondering if anyone else has a toddler boy who seems to love the color pink. Not that there is anything wrong with it... but I'm pretty sure my DH is not going to go for DS wearing pink slippers and having pink Minnie Mouse sheets on his bed!

My first instict is to think that he knows you like those things and maybe wants to impress you?

Re: Boys and favorite color?
I have a toddler girl whose favorite color is blue! She was a blue crayon for Halloween, and at every house where they let her pick candy, she took whatever was in a blue wrapper.
She walks around like Linus from Charlie Brown with a blanket that's . . . . you guessed it - blue! She picks the blue plate, the blue cup, the blue everything!
I know it's not quite the same as a little boy wanting everything pink - but as a mom it's just as frustrating.

That's too funny!
It's such an innocent thing to him, I know. But I'm sure you can understand worrying about the pre-conceived notions that people have.

That's a really good point.
Maybe he's looking at that too because of Caitlyn and all the pink she has?

Re: Boys and favorite color?
My DS loves the disney princesses. He has a cousin who is 18 months older than him and a friend his age who both love them so he now loves them. Drives DH nuts but I encourage it (we are going to Disney with that cousin in a few weeks and have a princess lunch scheduled, I want DS to be excited) DS also loves Thomas and cars and planes etc
I have a niece who is 7 and has always hated girl things. I used to tease her about getting her a barbie or doll for her birthday, and you could see the fire in her eyes. She has a bunch of boys around her who she wants to be with all the time hence the preference for nerf guns and legos vs dolls and princesses!
Honestly I wouldnt worry too much, I think its cute at this age and I write about it in his baby book so he can blush when he gets older but its just a phase!

Re: Boys and favorite color?
I asked DS what his favorite color was the other day, and he told me two: pink and orange. Which isn't surprising, his art coming from daycare often includes those colors.
I don't think he says it to impress me either--I almost never wear pink, I'm just not a pink kind of woman. It's a bright, pleasant color, I'm guessing that's the draw.

Yeah, I don't think he is trying to impress me either. I am so not a girly-girl and pink is not something I am constantly decked out in!
I guess he just likes the color! But I do think leighla is on to something. It is his favorite color since my DD came along and there is now A LOT more pink in the house!

Re: Boys and favorite color?
YES! DS' favorite color is pink. He says it because I say that's my favorite.
