Brand Name or generic?
What items that you buy must be brand name?
What is a great generic?
I have to use Q-TIps brand q-tips, DH MUST drink onlt Tropicana OJ......what a snob!
I really like the store brand boxed rices and canned veggies (S&S).

almost everything especially food.. like french fries must be oreida .. Ellios stouffers pizza .. vegetables and soups must be brand as well ..MILK must be farmland oj has to be tropicana my parents made me this way .

don't ever buy generic maple syrup. it is disgusting. I always buy:
Heinz ketchup
Hellman's Mayo
Gulden's Mustard
Aunt Jemima (sp) syrup -- mmm..butter rich
But I do buy generic:
aspirin
ibuprofen
pancake mix
spray oil
paper cups/napkins
all tinfoils and wraps
I guess mostly non-food related items. I will buy supermarket brand frozen vegetables, though.

I am pretty loyal to certain brands I like -- Heinz ketchup, hellman's mayo, bumble tuna, etc. There's a whole bunch.
But for other things I am not as particular -- I like the costco brand for a lot of things and will buy drug store brands for pain relievers and such.

For me brand names work best, the no-frills don't compare. Now if it were up to my DH everything in my house would be America's Choice brand products!

A1 Steak Sauce
Folgers or Maxwell house coffee
Philadelphia cream cheese
Hellman's Mayo for the rare ocassion we use it
Cheerios
Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo/wash
Tropicana OJ (me...can't have anything else)
Walmart brand:
diapers (white Cloud)
stuffing mix
canned veggies/stuff to make sauce (apparently southerners don't like Redpack tomatoes)
toilet paper/paper towels
medicines (tylenol, advil, etc....all the same stuff)
and a list of others....
I LOVE LOVE LOVE CVS baby wipes...SO soft!

Hmmm I guess I don't buy generic of a whole lot except my drugs.
As far as canned stuff I generally buy what's on sale since we don't use much. Cereals we generally buy the real deal also.

I use brand names for everything except pills!! Insurance only covers the generic and I don't have a spare $300 a month for brand names. I need that money for my twice a year Gucci and Fendi expeditions!!!!

Everything else can be generic, except for q-tips, TP and paper towels.

I generally buy brand name, but if the store brand goes on a really cheap sale, I'll try it.
Basic stuff like condiments I can usually buy generic, but I am pretty big on tropicana OJ.. haha
I've started to buy store brand like face wash and hand cream, which is kind of iffy for me because I'm allergic to everything...but so far so good
Also my doctor recently told me that BJ's and Costco ahve really good generic OTC drugs

I buy some things generic and some things brand name. I have to try them and figure it out. I know that Target brand shaving gel is good and much cheaper than skintimates. It all depends on the item.

I tend to buy brand names for food items: Hellman's mayo, heinz ketchup, aunt jemima syrup, etc.
Brand name also for:
Q-tips
Scotch Tape
Tampons and pads
Generic:
plastic wrap (although I think brand works better)
paper goods
i don't know what trader joe products count as - my guess is generic - if so, I buy alot of those, even food products.

same here.
I've tried store brands in the past and for the most part, I found that it was worth a little more $ to buy the brand names.
the one thing however that I do buy generic is Advil... I get the Walmart or CVS brand ibuprofen. it's exactly the same for less than 1/2 the price.
