Braxton Hicks?
How do you even know if you are having braxton hicks contractions? It seems like so many people find out that they are having contractions without even knowing, and all my books say that they are painless. I don't think I'd know a tightening of my uterus from some weird movement/roll being done by my baby. Is there a way of knowing, or do you just know?

Re: Braxton Hicks?
I think I am having them too. I'm going to ask my doctor since I have an appt tomorrow. I feel a tightening of my uterus and my stomach gets rock hard. I get it about 10 times a day for about a minute. I've been having them for about 2 wks. (I'm 20 weeks).

Re: Braxton Hicks?
I'm one of those who has NO clue... I THOUGHT I knew, but apparently that was just the sensation of the baby rolling around. When I was in the hospital and they hooked me up to the monitor I could see the contractions on the monitor, but felt NADA, NOTHING. I kept feeling around my tummy to detect the "tightening" but felt absolutely nothing!

Re: Braxton Hicks?
See. I think what I am feeling is just the baby rolling around. Someone said they feel like period cramps, which I've had occasionally, but all the books say they are painless. I'm so confused!!:

Re: Braxton Hicks?
My braxton hicks don't feel anything like period cramps. It just feels like my whole belly squishes into a ball and if I touch it it's ROCK HARD. Then it subsides. They don't last long and they aren't patterned...that's the difference between BH and real contractions.

Re: Braxton Hicks?
I'm one of those that didn't know I was having them until I happened to have one while in the Dr's office and he told me so. I would have continued to think it was the baby stretching out his legs or moving into a weird position had the Dr not told me what it really was!

Re: Braxton Hicks?
When are you supposed to get them? I remember my girlfriend having them and they were painful, but that was with her 1st child about 4 years ago...

Re: Braxton Hicks?
I think I had these all day today...
I couldnt imagine what "tightening" felt like... but it felt like the baby was all in a ball pushing into one area... meanwhile he was on the other side...
They werent painful...a little uncomfortable...
DO you think these were Braxton Hicks...???
If not what do you think it was... Like I said ALL day to day I got these sensations..??
