Braxton HIcks question..
Ok, so I really don't know anything about this but lately I have been getting a tightening feeling on my right side and it feels like I have to rub it to make it relax. It hurts a little and is really hard, but I also get a stabbing pain in my right rib. Could this be Braxton Hicks? I am only 19 weeks.

Re: Braxton HIcks question..
It doesnt sound like it to me especially at 19 weeks. What it sounds like is maybe the baby is laying on a nerve. BH feels a little more "contractractiony" (like my english). Call the dr they dont mind the questions.

Re: Braxton HIcks question..
the nurse at the hospital told me the difference ( while I was in the hospital for the diabetes few weeks ago I had contractions and didnt know it) a solid cramp that doesnt go away is the baby leaning on a nerve, contractions or braxton hicks are cramps that usually start from your lower back and wave to the stomach area and release themselves. I had these sunday about 5 minutes apart for a half hour and then poof went away. Its the uterus preparing itself and it also helps circulation for the baby. Braxton hicks do start very early in your pg too around 16 weeks.

I have braxton hicks at 20 weeks--I went today and it was indead contractions. They are across your whole stomach iit turns rock hard then softens. it is not good to have them at 19 weeks--my doc said it is due to dehydration most likely--so drink up---or in my case there are two in there and more liquids are needed.
